"Into the Temple"
The evocative colours and textures of Morocco were the inspiration for this piece. It's the fourth (and largest) work in a series on Morocco - a place I've only dreamed of travelling to! In this work, I was drawn to the challenge of portraying the void space inside the temple - which paradoxically is also the work's focal point.
The work has varying thicknesses that was achieved through the layering of fused glass elements and layered pebbles in the foreground.
"Into the Temple" is framed in a timber frame and is available for $900.00.

"The Wonder"
As a lover of books, it's hardly surprising that I chose to make a mosaic of my untidy bookshelf! To suggest the richness that books can add to a person's life, I imbued the books with an "antique" feel by burnishing the surfaces with gold leaf. The materials used in this mosaic include fused glass, gold smalti, micro mosaics (in the horse book-ends) and a mini bronze sculpture of the Indian goddess, Durga, riding a tiger.
This piece is framed in a Jarrah hand-crafted timber frame.
Dimensions: 490mm x 420mm. Materials: smalti, cinca porcelain, found objects.
'The Wonder' is available for $900.

"After Margaret"
Margaret Preston was one of Australia's female modernist artists who worked in lino cuts and hand-colour wood blocks. When learning the technique of layering glass and ceramic tiles on a cement-based background, I was reminded of Margaret's black and white woodblock prints.
The work is unframed and can be hung externally.
Dimensions: approx. 280 x 400mm
Materials: Ceramic tiles, smalti, bottle glass and broken plates.
'After Margaret' is available for $320.

'Looking through a Parisian Window'
One of the joys of walking through the streets on a Parisian evening is peering into the windows of closed art galleries. This mosaic came about after I tried to take a photo of a stunning artwork - but couldn't capture it without also photographing the iron bars! In my mosaic, I've tried to contrast the shiny black bars against the dappled background of the painting.
Dimensions: 440 x 600mm
Materials: hand stained Italian smalti
'Looking through a Parisian Window' is framed in a simple black timber frame. It is available for $1,200.
